A 104 m2 Moscow apartment with two bedrooms for children and a master bedroom with a private bathroom
The main wish of the owners of this apartment was to provide it with three bedrooms. They gave us complete freedom to make decisions and we made a bright interior with a contrasting bathroom. The apartment has no living room, so we expanded the space of the kitchen by removing the partitions between it, the hallway and the corridor.
We took care of the realization of this interior and controlled all deliveries, work and materials. The clients did not have an opportunity to invite us to photograph the apartment, so here is the interior as we presented it to them when we finalized the design project.

Type
A three-bedroom apartment
Years

Features
Two large corridors, small bathroom and kitchen, a narrow hallway
Before
After
Two large corridors
А bathroom without a shower
No room for a closet in the hallway
We put a glass partition between one of the children's rooms and the kitchen to get more light
The partitions between the kitchen and the hallway were removed, so the space became brighter
The bathroom door was moved into the bedroom, so it became private
The bathroom was enlarged at the expense of the corridor; we added there a utility unit and a shower
We made a niche for a closet in the hallway
The interior is designed in light colors. The clients wanted to install wooden window jambs, and we repeated this shape in the kitchen set. We also chose contrasting appliances and made sure there are additional graphic accents provided by the dining table and the light fixture.
One of our main planning techniques is to opt out of any partitions and doors that separate the kitchen and the hallway from the rest of the apartment. Here, the kitchen forms a single space with the hallway and the corridor. We tried to make it more spacious.
We put a glass partition between the kitchen and the children's room. The kitchen will be getting more light, but one can always create a more private space with the help of a curtain.
The glass fronts of the closet in the hallway echo the small dish cabinet with the same fronts and lighting.
At the clients’ request, we decided where to place the cat's litter box. It was put behind a facade with a round hole.
Anyone standing in the hallway can see a big mirror which is in fact a sliding door leading to the dressing room.
The dressing room is fitted out with open cabinets going up to the ceiling and having enough space for clothes, shoes and suitcases. The shelves have automatic lighting.
The corridor has been finished pretty neutrally at the request of the clients. They would like to use this space as a gallery.
The bedroom is decorated with a lighting fixture that occupies the entire wall and consists of numerous bulbs similar to Chinese lanterns. The wall behind them has been additionally soundproofed, so there will be no noise coming from the neighbors.
The bed is opposed by a cabinet with a TV niche. We made the balcony cold-proof, joined it to the bedroom and put there a table for the client and a cat condo. The latter consists of several modules that can also be used as bookshelves.
The bathroom is separated from the bedroom by a glass partition, so the clients will be able to take a bath and shower in daylight. Moreover, we raised the entire bathroom floor, so the shower zone has no thresholds.
The bathroom in this bedroom is special because it is colorfully different from the rest of the apartment. Slate tiles make it look like a gloomy cave. The snow-white fitment almost shines against the dark walls.
The bathroom does not have a usual heated rail. We made a warm wall between the shower and bath and mounted towel rails right on it.
We told more about all the intricacies of this bathroom in the video shot during the renovation works.
The girl's room is painted in calm colors so the parents can easily add the right decor later. For now, we suggested using stickers with dried flowers. Both rooms for kids have special art walls with magnet-griffle paint.
There is a small sitting area right next to the hanging table for the parents to sit down and study or play with their child.
The boy is fond of dinosaurs, so we decided to stick images of their skeletons onto the walls. The stickers are easy to remove if the child becomes fascinated with something else. The whole room is done in three main colors: the cabinets are light wood textured, the hanging table and the bed are black, and the walls are white.
When designing the table, we made a special shelf with lighting for the terrarium, as it is another of the boy's hobbies.
The children's bathroom also serves as a laundry room in this apartment: there is a toilet bowl and sink on the left, a shower in the center, and a sink behind the front, a washer, a dryer, and a drying cabinet on the right. Despite such an abundance of equipment, it is not cramped: the bathroom area is 6.7 square meters. We used five types of tiles for this bathroom and highlighted the shower area and the sink.
At the final stage of renovation, we shot another video where we discussed all the mistakes we made and how we solved them.
